Required Safety Equipment
Great Way Martial Arts has gone to great lengths to make it one of the safest
facilities in Canada. All students purchase their gear package at enrollment.
Proper gear must be brought with you to class in order to participate. If you
lose a piece or it is ripped or torn you must replace it immediately.
Uniforms & Other Gear
Proper uniforms are provided as part of the Introductory Special or the gear
package. Students should be training in their uniform every class. GWMA t-shirts
are allowed during the warmer summer months. All patches should be placed on the
uniforms only.
Tuition & Renewal Policies
Please refer to your signed copy of the Contractual Agreement provided at
enrollment for your specific program term, tuition rate, renewal date,
cancelation policy and method of payment. The following are general policies:
Tuition Policy:
- Standard no refund policy(except within the first 30 days of an introductory course)
- No refunds or credits will be issued for student absences or gear packages
- Payment is due for your program term regardless of attendance
Renewal Policy:
MMonthly payment programs will automatically continue unless we are notified by
you 30 days prior to the renewal/upgrade date in writing. If it is your desire
not to renew, you must come in person to GWMA to cancel.
Student Supervision:
Children must be supervised before & after classes. All children not attending
classes must be supervised at all times. Please help us to keep noise levels
down and follow all polices of the posted signs.
Schedule Changes
After each test period, the class schedule will be adjusted to accommodate new
belt promotions. Students may need to move from their present class time to a
higher belt level class. There is no guarantee you will receive your class
preference, however, our goal is to offer a convenient selection of classes on
the schedule. Students (and parents) must understand that when a student's belt
color changes as they advance to black belt, they may need to change classes.
Make Up Class Policy
Kids (7+), Youth and Adult students who train twice a week are provided a makeup
class on Saturday each week. This does not include the Rock Solid Children’s
Program. On occasion, if you MUST attend a makeup during the week, it is
required that you call the Academy to schedule the makeup class. Make ups may
only be conducted in non-full classes. Students are not allowed to drop in and
attend classes to which they are not assigned without prior approval.
Maintaining appropriate class size and student teacher ratio is important to us.
Please assist us by not attending other student's classes.
Guest Passes
Students & members are always welcome to invite their friends to class. You can pick up a VIP Pass from resource center or the front desk. This will entitle you a movie pass to the local theatre when your friend attends their 1st lesson. GWMA members & families may try a new class (MA Conditioning, Adult Martial Arts etc.) simply by calling the front desk. There is no charge for the class pass.
Freezing Your Membership
If your schedule requires that you take time off from your kung fu class before
the completion of your program, you must notify GWMA by submitting a "Freeze
Notice" in advance of the month you are to be away. Payment of the absent
month(s) will be made as usual. However, a full credit for the "frozen" month
will be applied to the end of the program term.
Terms & Conditions to Freeze:
- A full calendar month is required to” freeze” (not partial months)
- A minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 1 Unit (3 months) may be frozen
- Can only freeze once within a Phase Program e.g. while in phase 2 only one freeze will be permitted
- Students that take time off beyond the agreed “freeze” month(s) will not receive credit or a refund for missed time.
- Credit will only be applied if the Freeze Notice form is provided before the freeze month.
- No refunds only credits will be issued for students who do not return to class after the agreed freeze term.
